The short answer
Kickstart every single day with a simple vegan yogurt breakfast that you can tweak to your taste. Simple to make, healthy, and fulfilling, you can’t miss trying it! It is my go-to breakfast each morning 😍!
Simple Vegan Yogurt for all year around
Breakfast was the simplest change for me when I decided to switch to a vegan diet.
I always found Yogurt bowls plain. I never appreciated them until last year, when I traveled to Malaysia. I tasted a truly delicious yogurt bowl and fell in love with it.
It was fresh and sweet, it brought me a smile to my face early in the morning (and I'm not a morning person!)
Back home, I had to make it again, but vegan this time.
This vegan yogurt bowl is my kickstart every morning (with coffee, of course ☕!)
It only takes me 10 minutes to make it.
And I can change it up all year round with different fruits to keep it interesting. It is also packed with nutrients to give me energy!
Let’s dive into this yogurt bowl!
Find the yogurt you love
The most important ingredient is the yogurt. Pick a vegan yogurt brand and flavor that you like.
I tried different flavors, and I liked the coconut-flavored yogurt the most. The vanilla flavor is also great 😀
To increase your protein intake, you can also mix the yogurt with protein powders!
Make your homemade granola (It is super simple!)
Why should you make your own granola?
Store-bought granola often contains extra sugar and unnecessary preservatives. It can also be more expensive than making your own.
When you make your own granola, you choose which ingredients to add. You know what you are fueling your body with.
It takes me 15 minutes to make my homemade granola for around 20 servings. I make a new batch every 2 weeks or so.
How to make your homemade granola?
First, take a jar. Fill half of it with oat flakes. Then fill the other half with a mix of chia seeds, flax seeds, Brazil nuts, almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds.
Done. Congrats, you have made your own granola!
Out of all these nuts, you should add these 3 types to your homemade granola:
- Chia seeds: I put 10 tablespoons. Chia seeds are the best plant-based source of omega-3.
- Flax seeds: I also put 10 tablespoons. It's the second best plant-based source of omega-3. Buy already grinded or grounded flax seeds since your body can't digest whole flax seeds.
- Brazil nuts: I add 10 chopped nuts. just one Brazil nut provides you with 175% of your daily value of selenium!
I add other nuts based on personal preferences. Add what you like the most!
Top it with fruits to make it a great yogurt bowl!
When it comes to choosing fruits, that’s up to you. I recommend seasonal fruits for tastier products. Depending on the season, check out what you can get in your store.
I always add these 3 basic fruits to my vegan bowl. Apple, banana, and kiwi.
Kiwis have vitamin C, which helps absorb iron in homemade granola. I also drink fresh orange juice, which has the same effect.
Depending on the season, I also add other fruits. These include pomegranate, raspberries, blueberries, or strawberries. Add what you like.
