Homemade cashew cream is essential for any plant-based pantry. Simply boil the cashews, blend them with water, and it’s ready! Use these tips to make it even better ⬇️
How to Use Cashew Cream?
Cashew cream is a versatile staple for every vegan cook! It is a great plant-based substitute and open a new range of creative recipes to try out.
I love using it in my Mushroom Risotto as a cheese alternative, making the dish incredibly creamy.
You can also create a plant-based sour cream by mixing in lemon juice and apple cider vinegar.
Other popular usages for cashew cream include:
- Ice Cream 🍦
- Salad Dressing 🥗

Tips and Tricks to Make Your Cashew Cream Better
The basic cashew cream is a good place to start, but with these few tips, you will make it extra good 🤤
1. Add an Acidic Ingredient
Cashew Cream is mainly fat and a pinch of salt added during the preparation. Adding an acidic ingredient will help balance the cream and enhance its flavor.
2. Add Spices and Herbs
I love using cashew cream as a blank canvas to infuse with flavors from spices and herbs. Add Indian flavors with curry, turmeric, and cumin for a unique gravy, or create a simple dipping sauce using parsley and thyme.
3. Use a Quality Blender or Strain Your Cream.
A high-quality blender will produce a smoother cream. If the texture is still grainy or your blender isn’t powerful, strain the cream through a fine mesh for a silkier texture.
How to Store Homemade Cashew Cream?
Store cashew cream in the fridge for about a week. For longer storage, freeze it for up to a month.
